Lung Cancer Screening – Oxnard

Lung Cancer Screening - Oxnard

Lung Cancer Screening

Lung cancer screening is a test used to detect lung cancer early, before symptoms develop. It’s recommended for older adults with a high risk of lung cancer, particularly those who are longtime smokers and don’t exhibit any signs or symptoms of the disease.

Detecting lung cancer at an early stage increases the likelihood of successful treatment.

Om Research is conducting a study that is looking at markers in the blood to help identify cancer.

Patients who are interested in the study will need to be scheduled for a standard of care lung cancer screening.

This will involve a low-dose computerized tomography (LDCT) scan of the lungs.

Low-dose computed tomography is a medical imaging technique that uses reduced amounts of radiation, compared to the usual computed tomography scans, to produce images that present a detailed cross-sectional view of structures inside the body.

It is specifically a tool for early lung cancer detection since it can show small nodules or areas of abnormality in the lungs.

This early detection by LDCT itself is very important for increasing the chances of successful treatment and survival of patients from lung cancer.
